Morguard is happy to announce that it’s Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites, located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, has won Dual-Brand of the Year at the Hilton Legacy Awards in the Development Award category.
Hilton’s annual program selects winners based on individual property data using combined metrics that include overall guest experience, quality assurance, and revenue growth from the previous calendar year.
The dual branded Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites opened in 2019, completely modernized internally and externally. The hotel was retrofitted with new generators, pipes, heating, and air conditioning, among other changes. The Morguard-led redevelopment of the hotel complex has now become its flagship.
Morguard’s redevelopment culminated in the first dual-brand conversion of an existing building in Canada, and the first Hilton hotel in downtown Ottawa. This project solidifies Morguard’s investment in the Ottawa region, and commitment to redeveloping existing properties for long-term value.
The Hilton Garden Inn has 10 storeys and offers locally sourced food and beverages at its full-service restaurants and bars, and the Homewood Suites has 17 storeys and is designed for extended stays, with full kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas. The two towers combine to share amenities such as a large 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor salt-water pool, and flexible meeting and event areas. The complex is within walking distance of the National Art Gallery, Rideau Canal, and the By-ward Market, along with various eating and shopping attractions, pathways and transit, and is promised to delight visitors in what is being called Morguard’s crown jewel.
